Founded in January 2016, Durrington Community Choir was formed to provide members of the local community with a place to sing together and provide a network of social support.
Durrington Community Choir has been going from strength to strength, both in size and in vocal ability for over five years.
Even throughout lockdown, our members have continued to meet via zoom – both to learn new repertoire and enjoy social activities.
Durrington Community Choir is a non audition, four part choir (SATB), with no requirement to be able to read music or be an elite standard singer, nor are performances and events compulsory to choir memmbers.
We currently have approximately 40 members.

'Monday evenings with the choir is my “me time” where I get to relax and have fun away from work, chores and kids! Hannah chooses a wide range of music for us so there’s something for everyone. I haven’t sung since I was in the choir at school and it’s been lovely reigniting my love for music.'

I am a 75 year old disabled widower. I used to be a very confident person, I served for over 30 years in the British Army. Since leaving the Armed Forces my confidence was seriously affected, causing me to become very isolated from others. I joined the choir when it first began, never being in a choir before it was such a game changer for me, I did not realise that I could confidently sing .
My confidence is getting stronger daily,
I look forward to our weekly sessions as they are conducted in such a very non threatening way with plenty of humour thrown in. I would strongly recommend anyone who is looking for companionship and also a sense of belonging to come along and give it a go. Also I have learned to have a better understanding of written music.
Hannah is an amazing choir leader who really encourages all choir members to just really enjoy their learning and at times show off there newly learned skills. Our choir is now the highlight in my life I can’t imagine life without it.
Kindest regards
Brian
What a warm and friendly bunch, where singers of all abilities are made to feel welcome. The weekly rehearsals are fun and very uplifting, with a great range of songs and arrangements that have something for everybody. There are opportunities to take part in local concerts, along with various social events throughout the year. A great way to make new friends and to be a part of the community – a real tonic and a boost to mental and physical well-being. Highly recommended.
